AURORA: Little Boy in the Grass

Little Boy in the Grass;

I think I could watch AURORA perform all day. Her tone is so delicate and fragile yet crisp and sharp in all the right places. Her expressions and actions show her to be an artist who can not simply perform a song live but one who can almost feel it. The ability to tell a story through a song is one sought after by many musicians and it is not everyday you come across a star like AURORA who can do this so effortlessly. Her storytelling talent is demonstrated perfectly in last year's Mahogany session performance of her Little Boy in the Grass. Set upon a small boat, with only her voice and an acoustic guitarist, the scene is calm and serene. I adore how everything fits together; the delicate vocals, the calm surroundings and the imagery portrayed in the lyrics about a sweet little child. Everything seems so perfectly put together and executed to perfection. My favourite section is at 2.45 where she varies octaves so effortlessly its mind blowing.

I honestly admire AURORA as an artist so much. Being younger than me, at a meagre 19, she has achieved so much, written so many beautiful tracks and is rising to fame as we speak. I have known and loved her for a while now but she recently claimed the hearts of the rest of the nation with her Half the World Away for John Lewis' iconic Christmas advert. I am so glad she was given this opportunity as everyone can now see how talented this youngster from Norway really is. I think this is only the start of a long and fruitful career for AURORA. I bet my bottom dollar that her debut album to be released next month will be absolutely HUGE and I honestly CANNOT wait. Have a listen to her amazing Running With The WolvesRunaway and Conqueror below.
