'Saviour' by Black Peaks

Look at that tash. Damn.

I've been poo at writing blog posts recently. Pooey-er than poo actually. And apart from being insanely busy, I think it's mainly because no music has excited me enough. It's sad, I know. However, there are some exceptions to that rule. Here's one:

This band blows my mind. They are the masters of organised chaos. Every last beat has as much of a catchy pop element to it as it does absolute disarray. This new release is no different. However, this, their third single release, screams of 'prog' more than ever before. As a bit of a judgemental musician geek, you could always see the ability to stretch this way with them; they tease with the groove, and handle dissonance is such tasteful ways. But this 6 minute epic travels through content that varies so much more than anything that it follows - not to say that their previous singles weren't as intricate and versatile. Although main sections repeat themselves throughout, there are interludes, where the song travels to areas slowly but surely unrelated to their beginnings.

What a tash too.

I think any avid music listener, regardless of technical music knowledge, just gets when a band is really on form. There's an extra level of intensity, an extra air of life, or maybe something slightly less artsy-fartsy sounding than that. Whatever it is, it seems like these guys have got it right now. And if they haven't, then Jesus holy S***-balls, I can't imagine what they'd sound like when they have it.

Check these dudes out. There's not much out there right now, but what's there is enough to keep a healthy diet of asldkjvndffgfsgdadfavs in your music listening life.
