LiSA : Crossing field

Crossing Field;

Me, being your usual manly, active, tough sort of guy means that I spend a rather generous amount of my time watching anime. Which is where I found this rather fantastic, heart-pumping, explosion of utter brilliance and euphoria. Crossing Field by LiSA is one of my all time favourite opening themes, which makes you feel unstoppable!

Firstly Crossing Field begins with such a sweet keyboard line, which will latch itself on to your soul where you won't be able to stop singing it in your head. Normally I wouldn't be able to stand such a thing ,but there is something mesmerizing the way the first three notes are played with the pause before the forth. It start your heart pumping and it wont stop, because there is so much more to come!

Now me being a bassist means that I LOVE listening to funky, lively and just clever basslines which this song does not fall short at doing. Listen closely to the pre-chorus and you will here these satisfying bass fills which lead in to a chorus packed full with all sorts of articulation such as glissandi ,techniques and my all time favourite the bass run! Every time I here these runs my mind goes wild and I can't help picking up my bass and join in or just sit there looking like a lost puppy trying to sing along! It's utter brilliance!

I know I have already mentioned the keyboard line but I have to admit I cannot describe how much I as a musician / listener appreciate it when artists put these subtle layers into their music. Which the keys in this piece are constantly being used to do, with their ascending step wise patterns or background fills. Its the little things in music that can make the biggest difference and it shows the effort some artists are willing to put in.

Finally LiSA's vocal line in this piece is perfect, it suits the lively, upbeat feel and I think that no other voice could suit it better. She sings in such a enticing manor that before I knew it I was singing along! There is also something quite satisfying singing a song that's in a different language, it makes you feel as if you could speak that language fluently even though if you sang it to a person who actually speaks that language they would probably just get offended or have you arrested. Anyway the whole vocal line is amazing and is complimented by LiSA's dulcet tones.

To conclude: I love this song it is a wonderful piece that a lot of time and effort has been put in to! also it makes me feel good about myself and stops me realising that I spend too much time watching anime.

Unfortunately for some bizarre reason they don't have the whole song on youtube so this video is just a link and i'll leave a link to the whole song below!
