If i'm honest the first time I heard Sky I wasn't particularly blown away by her music. Her style of music was very different to mine and so my instinct was to switch off. However of late I have heard her songs everywhere. For example You're Not The One even featured on a Made in Chelsea episode recently! So I gave her songs another listen and discovered just how much I love this new and modern style of hers. She mixes 80's electropop with more grunge inspired indie-rock. You're Not The One is my personal favourite off her album Night Time, My Time. Sky tells the story of a relationship that was one-sided so the singer decides to just except that the person isn't 'the one' and to move on. My personal favourite section is the intro, with the drums leading into an insanely catchy electric guitar rhythm which is then repeated for the chorus. Sky's voice reminds me of the sultry deeper vocals of Lana Del Rey and her style and image has been compared to those of Lorde and Miley Cyrus. Sky's independent and bold personality is slowly becoming known in the media industry pressing on some controversial topics. This sparked when she appeared topless on her album cover. In response to this she just replied 'There's nothing about that photo that's pornographic, we came onto this earth nude.' I believe Sky should be loved for her self confidence and congratulated that she knows her own mind in such a powerful industry. Sky Ferreira has supported Vampire Weekend and Miley Cyrus where she has gained an ever growing fanbase. I expect there'll be massive things ahead for Sky Ferreira and I can't wait to watch her grow as a young talented musician.
