Foo Fighters

                                                                       Foo Fighters

There has always been a special place in my heart for the Foo Fighters. These guys are the reason why I chose to immerse myself in the world of music, they are the band that ignited my passion,  my love, and my desire to explore this versatile art that is forever changing. They are the reason why I choose to spend nine hours every two weeks studying music.

I remember listening to my first Foo Fighters song, The Pretender, it was at a neighbours house party. This neighbour of mine was very much in to rock music and had recently bought juke box. Being a child I had never seen a real juke box before and wanted to pick a song, but I didn't have a clue who any of the bands were so I put my pound in and selected a random number. There was a quick clunk as the vinyls where being swapped around and then a soft, sweet opening guitar riff with Grohl's vocals over the top. I was already hooked, intrigued by this opening. It was unlike anything I had ever heard before. But nothing could prepare me for what was coming next. The strong snare beat followed by a harsher, gritty guitar riff. My heart was pounding at this point. The guitars strumming simultaneously with Grohl's booming vocals over the top. And then the chorus just blew me away. I was completely mesmerised by this one song, no piece of music had left such an impact on me before. So from then on I dug deeper listening to many of there different albums constantly on repeat. Echos, Silence patience and Grace and The Colour and The Shape were my two favourite albums to listen to.

The music the Foo Fighters produce is always up to a high standard and never stops amazing me with the new ideas they come up with. I have always felt that their music is timeless and after a recent video went viral this week of 1000 people playing Learn To Fly it reminded me of the people that this band brings together. I remember one of the reasons I was inspired to started a band was to play a cover of Everlong with a few of my mates. And I know that there are many other people out there who started their bands playing Foo Fighters covers.
People all round the world have been inspired by this amazing band and all the work they have done writing such exquisite music. Producing album after album with each one having its own personality, being just as if not more memorable than the last.
To this band, I owe a lot and I know I'm not the only one. Thank You.

Alex
