I first heard about these guys from my brother a couple of months ago and I've had their albums on repeat ever since. Dinosaur Pile-Up are an English band formed in 2007. In the years they've been together they've produced two absolutely amazing albums; Growing Pains and Nature Nurture. Their second studio album is one of my top must have albums of 2013. I chose to write about Peninsula from that album as it is the first track I heard from the band and it's what initially got me into their sound. It is an unbelievably catchy song! The fast guitar playing at 0.42 leads into the catchy chorus perfectly and then the sudden pause at 1.14 slows the pace right down again. I think it's these crazy pace changes which give the song such a fun and cheerful feel. I cant help but jig along to the beat every time I listen to it. The pace once again slows at 2.37 as we stop and focus on the lyrics alone. Then the drum beat is introduced and it's here that I can just imagine the audience clapping along with the rhythm enticed with the sound. Dinosaur Pile-Up make such a nice change from traditional alternative rock I tend to listen to. They bring a fun and exciting feel to the genre which I haven't come across since my childhood band, Feeder. Dinosaur Pile-Up I don't think have got enough credit for being such talented musicians so why don't you go ahead and give their albums a listen. It's about time they got the recognition they deserve and I hope 2014 is the year they receive it.
