ARTPOP IS COMING GUYS. THE QUEEN IS READY TO SLAY.
So this track has been on repeat for the whole day. Although we have already heard some of ARTPOP (Gaga's new album) 's tracks through the single Applause , a leaked demo and lyric video for Aura & from her performance at the iTunes Festival in September, this is the first promo single. The song itself is very catchy, you'll find yourself humming along to the tune within a few listens to the song. Although it isn't as high tempo and dance influenced as Applause, it really makes you feel good while listening to it. Her collaboration with R. Kelly really finishes the song. His voice fits perfectly with the chilled vibe and listening to the song makes you feel so warm. The lyrics are evidently about the media and what they write about Gaga. The chorus' lyrical content shows this. She says "you can’t have my heart and you won’t use my mind" and "you can’t stop my voice cause you don’t own my life". Gaga is basically saying that she doesn't care what people think or say about her because they don't control/own her, therefore she tries not to let them get to her. She is a very independent woman and is well known for it. She's not letting anyone effect her. Despite it's release only 12 hours ago in USA, Canada, Hong Kong, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore and Taiwan, it has reached number one on the iTunes charts for every country, and it is set to be released tonight at midnight for the rest of the world to hear. It has been 2 years since Gaga has hit the number one spot so I am very happy for this track's success. This is a perfect promo single as it really shows the diversity of ARTPOP and the different genres Gaga has explored. It deserve all the success its getting! Congratulations Gaga!
