I first discovered Grouplove when they supported Imagine Dragons back in November of last year. Ways to Go has just got to be one of my favourite songs by them, appearing in one of my choice track selections last year. Tongue Tied is probably their most well known song, featuring on numerous adverts and was even performed by the cast of Glee. Listen to it below and I bet my bottom dollar you'll recognise it instantly! Colours has also been used in the game FIFA and Let Me In was an original song they created for the bestselling movie The Fault in Our Stars. With that in mind no one can disagree that Grouplove have excelled themselves in the music industry in the mere five years they have been together. Every single song they have released has been an absolute masterpiece, a pleasure to my eager ears. And when I heard I'm With You it did not disappoint. The song starts with a beautiful repetitive piano section which shows Christian Zuccini's insane talent. After about a minute of this the sound suddenly grows into an explosion of sound. However this change is so casual its as though one has simply lifted their head out of water to transform the muted beat into a crisp and precise one. This is an incredibly powerful intro and probably the best i've heard. It really shows how musically talented the band is and gives a refreshing twist on the conventional song structure. After a brief pulse the Grouplove familiar sound we all know and love returns. The energetic beat, catchy vocals and irregular tempo make it seriously addictive. I particularly like the slower vocal section towards the end of the song which creates a perfect fusion of some Peace and Manchester Orchestra with a bit of The Shins thrown in. Don't be put off by the outrageously unique video. Their videos do tend to be rather quirky but also full of fun and energy. This is a perfect description of the band itself. Grouplove have played with some massive names including Florence and the Machine, Two Door Cinema Club, Alt J and Foster the People. For some further listening I highly recommend their song Shark Attack and their acoustic version of I'm With You. If you haven't heard Grouplove yet you're quite frankly not in my good books. Check them out already!
