Boy Jumps Ship: Call to Arms

Call to Arms;

I first heard these guys when they performed with Arcane Roots at the Garage back in April. They were first on, followed by Empress and the almighty Arcane Roots so they had the tough job of gearing up the crowd for a mental night. But they did just that. Their performance was top class! I remember in particular that their vocals were so crisp and faultless enabling every word to pulse right throughout the Garage. They were so comfortable and chilled on stage making the crowd warm to them instantly. My only regret of the night was not going over to have a chat with the lads themselves when they walked into McDonalds after the gig! The four piece band from Newcastle recently released their third EP Lovers and Fighters. Call to Arms is my favourite track on it. I love how they introduce the catchy chorus right at the beginning of the track before leading into the skillful guitar riff. This chorus along with the chant towards the end of the song, however simple, makes me want to sing along every time I hear it. Boy Jumps Ship are gaining mass followings after playing at many of this year's festivals including Boardmasters and GuilFest. Look out for them this October where they'll be supporting the legendary We Are The Ocean followed by another tour with Canterbury in November. These guys are getting around fast. In no time at all they'll be on your ipod too, I guarantee it.
