George Ezra: Did You Hear The Rain

Did You Hear The Rain;

I was told about Ezra at work however, on searching him I realised I had heard some of his set at Glastonbury on the BBC Introducing stage and then I put two and two together! He's got a very distinctive voice; it's deep and has a slight tang to it, like an accent but it's only slight. Did You Hear The Rain caught my attention because I liked the quirky percussion at the start and the main guitar melody. It's three notes; going down and then the last two times, two consecutive pitches before falling down as before. The fact I can recall this proves this melody sticks with the listeners. It eludes to a minor or uncertainty and I found the overall sound of the track to be very interesting. I like that he sounds like other artists out there, I think this sounds similar to some Arctic Monkeys track however, his voice and the way the song is structured is interesting so at the same time he's different but not too different! So I think the majority of people will be able to to appreciate his music. I think this is an extremely difficult technique for an artist to pull off and George has!

The song which I heard him play at Glastonbury was 'Benjamin Twine' and this has a far more country/folk feel to it, showing that Ezra can be diverse in the music he produces.
Definitely give his set at Glastonbury a listen (you can see his separate tracks on youtube!) as it's fantastic.
