I am not a Little Monster but I do love Gaga and her latest single has not disappointed. It's a dance track that both my sister and I, and I think my mum more, love to dance too! Gaga, in my opinion, completely knows how to use the bass. So many tracks today have such heavy and pointless bass lines but Gaga uses it effectively to exaggerate the main sections in the song, again making you want to jump and dance until the track finishes. The melodies are short, conjunct, repetitive and staccato, making it edgy and catchy throughout. Although Gaga has always been a 'pop/dance' artist, this song shows how she has developed her sound for her new album 'ARTPOP' compared to the more pop based albums previously. Most definitely, this song is an example of a simple pop track which has been transformed into an alternative dance anthem, alternative in the sense, despite using electronics, she uses quirky sounds rather than the typical bass heard too often in the current UK charts. The backing uses more old-fashioned dance sounds found on keyboards. I love that Gaga is developing her sound, as the artists who evolve with the times seem to last the longest, and if this track is a taster for the new album, I am very excited for 'ARTPOP'. *does monster claw thing*
